1. NPCI’s August 1 UPI API Rules Go Live: Rate Limits, Anti-Fraud Display, and Autopay Windows

- Autopay scheduling restricted to off-peak windows: before 10 AM, 1–5 PM, and after 9:30 PM. Peak (10 AM–1 PM) is blocked for scheduled debits.
- Recipient bank name display mandated before transaction confirmation — a direct anti-fraud measure targeting impersonation and wrong-payee errors.
- Payment reversal requests capped at 10/month, max 5 per sender.

3. NPCI-IDRBT MoU: Certified Payment Security Training and Threat Intelligence Sharing

4. NPCI Finalises Digital KYC for UPI One World, Seeks RBI Nod

The digital KYC push is critical because physical onboarding is a scalability ceiling. Foreign tourists cannot be expected to visit a kiosk for KYC when the value proposition is “pay like a local.” P2P payments for foreigners remain blocked, which limits utility given that many Indian micro-merchants use personal UPI IDs.
Why it matters for developers: A digital KYC API for international users opens a new integration surface for travel-tech platforms, airport systems, and fintech apps targeting tourist payments. The passport-scan-and-verify workflow will require integration with passport verification APIs (potentially through India Stack’s DigiLocker or third-party identity verification providers). 5. Nasscom’s Mid-Year API Security Report: The Same Vulnerabilities, Higher Stakes

- APIs returning excess data — responses that include more fields than the requester is authorised to see — is a systemic gap. The fix must be at the API layer, not the frontend.
- India-specific context: The article flags RBI’s Account Aggregator framework and CERT-In’s six-hour breach reporting window alongside the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (full enforcement May 2027) as creating a compressed compliance timeline. “Get the API layer wrong here, and a security gap becomes a compliance failure in the same incident.”
