India Yet to Decide on UPI-Alipay+ Integration

India is not expected to take an immediate decision on linking UPI with Ant International’s Alipay+ network, with authorities still evaluating operational and security aspects. Officials have held discussions with Alipay+ representatives in recent months as part of broader cross-border digital payment expansion efforts, but no decision has been reached.

Any integration would allow Indian travellers to pay via UPI at Alipay+-connected merchants internationally. Sources clarified that discussions on Apple Pay integration with India’s digital payments ecosystem have not been held either. India continues to expand UPI internationally — France became the first European country to accept UPI — while maintaining caution on infrastructure security.
